New Member: Gary Hackenmueller
Gary Hackenmueller is a retired accountant from southwest Minneapolis who saw his first game, at Nicollet Park in Minneapolis, in 1951 right after Willie Mays had been called up by the Giants. In 1955, he attended the last game ever played at Nicollet Park. He was at the first and last games at Met Stadium and the first game at the Metrodome.

Gary sings in the Eagan Men’s Chorus and is a member of his church choir. He is now writing a book of sports stories, mostly baseball. He has a daughter, Joy, who lives in New York. The two go to Yankee Stadium when Gary visits her.

Gary shares his February 7 birthday with Al Smith, Juan Pizzaro, Endy Chavez, Burt Hooton, Benny Ayala, Spike Shannon, Carney Lansford, Dan Quisenberry, and Sinclair Lewis.

Other new members: Mathew Schraufnagel, Andrew Greengrass, Michael Ramseyer, Barry Brunsman, Jeff Lehtinen, Dwayne Ingalls, Duane Passa, and Blake Meyer.

Recap and Upcoming Events

Twenty-two SABR members attended the Fall Chapter Meeting on October 21. The meeting featured Eric Curry, the vice president for corporate partnerships for the Minnesota Twins, and research presentations by Rich Arpi, Stew Thornley, and Dan Levitt.

The meeting was adorned by a vintage photo of chapter namesake Halsey Hall, which was donated by chapter member Brent Peterson of the Washington County Historical Society. The photo had been given to the historical society by a woman who found it in her home.
