Members are invited to bring sports memorabilia items they are willing to donate for a silent auction to raise funds for the chapter. (Members are also encouraged to bring their checkbooks to bid on items as well as to renew their subscription to The Holy Cow! [$12] if they haven’t already submitted the form to the right.)

Joint Meeting in Fall
The Halsey Hall Chapter is considering combining its fall meeting with the Field of Dreams Chapter in Iowa. The meeting would likely be held at the Music Man Museum in Mason City, Iowa, on a Sunday in October. This will be discussed at the May meeting, or you can indicate your opinion to Ray Luurs (763-422-9699, luurscjg@aol.com) or post it on the e-list.

Hep Hops to Philly
Chapter charter member Pete Hepokoski and his wife, Mary, have moved to the Philadelphia area, but Pete is going to remain in the Halsey Hall Chapter. A native of Wadena, Minnesota, Pete came to Minneapolis to attend the University of Minnesota in the late 1960s. He was the student manager in 1968 and 1969 for the Gophers baseball team, which won the Big Ten title each year. Pete plans on seeing the Twins when they play the Phillies at Veterans Stadium in June. His new address and phone number are listed in the directory update below.

Hagemann Bears All
John “Bear” Hagemann has an exhibit of baseball memorabilia on display in the law school library at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. The collection—consisting of gifts from his students, colleagues, family, and friends—includes an Ernie Banks beanie bear, a baseball autographed by Hub Andrews, the first pitcher to face Jackie Robinson in a major league game, and a mug commemorating the Pirates’ 1960 National League pennant. John was on South Dakota Public Radio’s “Forum” on Opening Day to talk about baseball and the exhibit.

SABR President Claudia Perry on Jeopardy May 2
Claudia Perry, president of the Society for American Baseball Research, will be on the Jeopardy Tournament of Champions on Thursday, May 2. In Minnesota, Jeopardy airs at 4:30 p.m. on KARE-TV.
