Deano Thilgen Receives Vintage Award
The Muffins/Diamonds Program has presented Deano Thilgen with its highest honor, the Henry Chadwick Award, for outstanding service to vintage base ball. Deano was on hand to receive the award on November 9 in Columbus, Ohio.

“You are a tireless worker for this game,” said Doug Smith, the manager of the Muffins/Diamonds team, in informing Deano of the award. “You have contributed so much to the VBBA [Vintage Base Ball Association]. You travel and help to spread the game. You have helped our program greatly through your attention to authenticity and in helping to bring clubs from Minnesota to the Ohio Cup.

“Congratulations to you on behalf of a vintage base ball program that respects what you bring to this wonderful activity.”

Organized in Columbus in 1981, the Muffins were the first vintage team to play a regular schedule of games in the Midwest. The Diamonds are the women’s vintage base ball group in Columbus. The Muffins/Diamonds first presented the Henry Chadwick Award in 1992.

Deano has been involved in vintage base ball since playing his first game with the newly formed St. Croix Base Ball Club of the Washington County Historical Society in 1998. That winter he began searching for more information and learned of the VBBA, which he joined in 1999. Deano then attended the organization’s convention, in Ohio, the following year. “I went back to Ohio two more times in 2000, making new friends and learning more about the activity of vintage base ball. Deano is now the VBBA’s co-webmaster and chair of its Education and Interpretation Committee.

Before and After
Seven different names serve as both the last name of one Baseball Hall of Famer and the first name (or the middle name used as the first name) of another.

An example of such a name, applied to former Twins, would be David (Andre David West).

What are the seven Hall of Fame names that fit this category and to whom do they belong? As a bonus, what name will be added to this list in five or six years?

Note: The names must be exact matches. Fred Clarke and Clark Griffith do not count.
